Why is it important to make sure I renew my domain name?

If you don’t want to lose your domain name, it’s essential that you renew it before it expires. If not, you risk making it available for others to re-register, and this will be on a first come, first served basis.

Past Your Expiry Date

example.co.uk

When you register a .UK domain name, you’ll be able to register it for a period of anything between 1 – 10 years. You can renew your domain at any time during its lifecycle provided the renewal will not extend the term more than 10 years.

Renewing your domain name takes place between you and your registrar (the company who looks after your domain name for you). They’ll probably email you before your renewal is due to let you know which steps you need to follow to keep your domain name. If you don’t hear from them, make sure you get in touch with them to arrange renewal.

Check with your registrar if you would like to renew your domain early.
